Helen Bleibler Hetherington

HELEN BLEIBLER HETHERINGTON, age 94, died peacefully on Oct. 17, 2012 in Little Rock, Ark. She was born July 3, 1918 in Dallas, Texas, where she lived until 1998 when she moved to Little Rock. She was a graduate of Hockaday Junior College, Dallas, Texas and Barnard College, New York, N.Y. For 30 years, she taught science at The Hockaday School. She was a devoted student of art and nature. She was an active deacon and elder at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church in Dallas, and later a member of Westover Hills Presbyterian Church, Little Rock where she taught bible studies. She was a leader in the programming of the Shepherd Centers in both cities. Mrs. Hetherington and her late husband Charles S. Hetherington are remembered with love and admiration by their daughters and sons-in-law, Ann H. Prassel (Frank Prassel), Ethel H. Perina (Rudolf Perina) Charlotte Hetherington (Michael Barlow), and Jane H. Brown (Paul Brown) and six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A memorial service in Little Rock will be held at Westover Hills Presbyterian Church on Saturday, Nov. 3 at 11 a.m., 6400 Richard B. Hardie Dr., Little Rock. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to one of the organizations that Mrs. Hetherington supported: Westover Hills Presbyterian Church, the Arkansas Foodbank, the Salvation Army, or the Public Broadcasting System.
