Marcia Jeanne Morris

Mrs. Marcia Jeanne (Tharalson) Morris, 89, of Jackson, Tenn. formerly of Newport died Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2012. She was born Jan. 21, 1923 in St. Paul, Minn., the daughter of Carl and Estelle (Garness) Tharalson. As a small child they moved to Tacoma, Wash., where she lived until her marriage to Mr. Charles "Chuck" Morris on Oct. 28, 1944. In 1949, she moved with her husband and daughter to Oklahoma and later to Newport, Ark. In Newport, Mrs. Morris was a member of the St. Paul's Episcopal Church. She was an avid reader and was active in the Newport Service League and the Newport Hospital Auxiliary. Mrs. Morris was preceded in death by her husband, Charles "Chuck" Morris. She is survived by two daughters, Kathleen Shelton and husband John of Jackson, Tenn., and Marcia Thomas and husband Mark of Concord, Mass.; one sister-in-law, Emogene Morris of Newport, Ark.; three grandchildren, Jennifer Lawley and husband Jermey of Yigo, Guam, Rebecca Wilson and husband Eric of Denver, Colorado and Jennifer Thomas of Concord, Massachusetts and three great-grandchildren, Alex Lawley, Ben Lawley and Emogene Wilson.
