MARZELLE McBRIDE BENDER of North Little Rock died peacefully in her sleep Oct. 26, 2012. She was born Aug. 10, 1925, the first child of the late Joe C. McBride and Hattie Fore McBride. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of North Little Rock. Marzelle was a dedicated volunteer in her community, serving as a member of the Arkansas Arts Center and the Fine Arts Club, the Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary, the Arkansas Children's Hospital Auxiliary, and the Junior League of North Little Rock, being named Sustainer of the Year in 1990. Marzelle is survived by her husband of 63 years, Kurt Bender of the home; her son, Kurt Bender Jr. (Sue) of North Little Rock; daughters, Ann Butts (Greg) of Little Rock and Kay Jones (Bruce) of Ross, Calif.; brother, Bill McBride of Prescott; sister, Norma Robertson (JC) of Texarkana; granddaughters, Anna Gise (Max), Christina Butts, Allison Jones, Alex Jones, Daron Jones; great-grandson, Jack Gise, as well as several nieces and nephews and many friends. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Monday, Oct. 29, at Roller-Owens Funeral Home, 5509 John F. Kennedy Blvd. North Little Rock (501-791-7400). Funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2012 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 3802 North Olive, North Little Rock followed by interment at Pinecrest Memorial Park, 7401 Highway 5 North, Alexander, Ark. The family wishes to thank the physicians and staff of UAMS for their loving care, as well as the staff of Hospice Home Care of Little Rock for their warm compassion.
