John C. Presley, 75, of Roland, passed away on Tuesday, August 27, at his home surrounded by family. John was born on April 14, 1938 in Maumelle, Ark. to the late John J. and Lovie Cecile Presley. He is also preceded in death by one sister, Dorothy Marshall. A lifelong resident of Roland, John spent his childhood riding horses and enjoying the beautiful outdoors. Following his graduation at Joe T. Robinson High School, he joined the Army. After his service time he obtained a Real Estate License and sold property before starting his career at ABF Freight System. He was a dedicated worker who retired after over 30 years of service. John was a man of Baptist faith, who loved his family. He was an avid bowler, bowling multiple perfect games. He loved being outside, whether that be tending to his cattle or just observing the great scenery. He made his home at the foot of Pinnacle Mountain, and although he traveled all over the United States, he never found a place that compared to Roland. John is survived by his wife of 55 years, Melba J. Presley; one sister, Louise Newkirk of Little Rock; six nephews, Jeff Newkirk, of Roland, John Newkirk, of Maumelle, James Newkirk, of Little Rock; Bobby Johnson, Brett Johnson, Bartt Johnson, all of Bigelow; two nieces, Betty Hartnett of Roland, and Deborah Wantulok, of Searcy and a host of extended family and friends. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 30 in the Roller Chenal Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow the service at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Roland, Ark.
