Bertha M. Hendrix of White Hall passed away, February 5, 2013 at the age of 91 years. She was born December 15, 1921 to the late, James Alvah and Ethel Sanders Chambliss. Bertha was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Grady Hendrix; grandson, Clifton, Smith; three sisters; and one brother. She is survived by four children, Carroll Hendrix and wife, Margie of High Point, N.C., Loeta Smith and husband, Jimmie of White Hall, Marquita Gatling and husband, Don of Fordyce; and James Calvin Hendrix and wife, Pam of Bentonville. Bertha was blessed with ten grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She is survived by sisters, Louise James of Tulsa, Okla.K, Bernice Robertson of Camden, Jessie Ruth Strickland of Hampton, and Carolyn Evans of Heber Springs; and brother, Dr. Charles Chambliss of Arkadelphia. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday before the service. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Proctor Funeral Home with burial in New Hope Cemetery in Hampton. Dr. Bob Harper and Rev. Paul Williams will officiate the services. In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to the First Baptist Church of White Hall.
