Virginia Norwood Wininger

Virginia Norwood Leach Wininger, 86, of Conway, formerly of Morrilton, passed away on July 3, 2013. Virginia was born on April 22, 1927, in Springfield, Arkansas, to Cora and Roy Norwood. She was preceded in death by her parents and her first husband, James E. Leach, and five of her six her siblings, Orvie Metz, Presley Norwood, Nadine Robinson, Mary Lee Wray, and Robert Norwood. She is survived by her husband, Jim Wininger, her four children, Mike Leach of Conway, Keith (Bernie) Leach of Morrilton, Wayne Leach of Conway, and Martha (Tommy) Vaughan of Little Rock, a sister, Marie Seper of St. Louis, eleven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind many extended family members including Shelli Maso, Cheri Gassaway, Teresa Guillot, Tammi Neely, and Fawn Hood, as well as a wealth of good friends and her hang out and walking buddies. She will be remembered lovingly by all. Virginia retired from Kroger in Morrilton after 28 years and enjoyed visiting with the many people she would come in contact with each day. She and Jim moved to Conway in 2003 where she worked part time with two of her sons at Shorty's Restaurant. Virginia loved her family dearly and her most treasured times were when she was surrounded by her family and friends. Virginia had the wonderful gift of being able to recall in detail the fun and funny episodes she experienced with each of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an excellent cook (never by a recipe) and she always made sure she baked everyone's favorite dessert for family gatherings. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Morrilton and attended Second Baptist Church while in Conway. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 5, at 2 p.m. at Harris Funeral Home, 118 S. Moose, Morrilton, Arkansas with Bro. Coy Sample officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2 p.m. before the service. Burial will be at Wolfe Cemetery in Oppelo, Arkansas.
