Charles Richard "Rick" Cross

Charles Richard "Rick" Cross age 65, of Malvern, formerly of Brinkley passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2013 surrounded by his family and close friends. He was born in Huntsville, Alabama on September 26, 1947 to Pat Cross and Hazel Joiner Cross. After graduating from North Little Rock High School in 1965, Rick was sought by eight major league baseball teams eventually signing with the St. Louis Cardinals as a catcher. As a result, he received a 4 year paid college scholarship and an undisclosed signing bonus. After serving a long career in the banking industry, Rick retired after a 14 year career with the Little Rock Police Department as a Crime Analyst. Prior to retirement, Rick served on the board of the American Heart Association and was a Rotarian in both Brinkley and Malvern, Arkansas. Rick is survived by his wife, Margie Short Cross of Malvern, his father, Pat Cross and wife Dolores of Little Rock, his mother, Hazel Stuart of North Little Rock, two sons, Rick Cross and wife Tisha of Benton, Romeo Cross and wife Jennifer of Texarkana, one daughter, Katie Hollingsworth and husband Mike of Malvern, one brother, Ronnie Cross and wife April of North Little Rock and seven grandchildren, Haley, Houston and Cole Hollingsworth, Kaitlyn, Olivia, Kayde and Kai Cross. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Brinkley First United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery by Bob Neal & Sons Funeral Home of Brinkley.
