Franklin D. Harrell, 76, of Mayflower left on Wednesday, May 1, 2013 to make a garden in heaven. He was born on January 30, 1937 to the late Horace M. and Ethel Gilletta Harrell the seventh of twelve children. Frankie fought a good fight with cancer for fourteen years until he succumbed at his home in Mayflower. He moved to Mayflower at the age of 12 to live with his second family after the death of his mother; Ralph and Lillie Harrell where he has lived his whole life. Frankie graduated from Mayflower High School in 1956 where he was an outstanding athlete in basketball, baseball, and boxing. He was a winner of the Golden Glove award several times through his boxing career with Coach Bob Starr. Frankie attended Arkansas State Teachers College. He loved anything outdoors and was a farmer from a young age until he retired and began working for Faulkner Co. Road Dept. in 1991. Frankie absolutely loved gardening and shared the fruits of his labor with his friends, family, and neighbors. He was a grower of many things and loved working hand in hand with his daughter in the garden and farming with his son. Frankie was an avid hunter and fisherman, and a member of the Round Here Hunting Club. His faith was very strong. Frankie was a member of the Lighthouse Pentecostal Church in Morgan. He also served as president of the school board for a number of years and stayed active in his community. He is survived by the light of his life, his wife Janice Raney Harrell of 52 years, daughter; Nicki Reagan (Marlin), son; Frank Harrell Jr. both of Mayflower, two cherished granddaughters; Lacye Blake (Tracey) of England, Raney Reagan of Mayflower, his precious great-grandson; Dallas Blake of England, three sisters; Freeda Simpson, Eva Harrell, and Martha Jane Whitely, seven brothers; Walker Harrell, Leo Harrell , David Harrell, Bobby Harrell , Billy Harrell, Royce Harrell, and brother-in-law, Jim Raney, and too many in-laws, out-laws, nieces, and nephews to mention. Frankie is also preceded in death by his second family Ralph and Lilly Harrell, two sisters; Kathryn Harrison, and Relma Louis Harrell, four brothers; Austin, Joe, Charles, and Ronald Harrell, and one sister in law, Ann Harrell. Funeral Services will be held at Roller McNutt Funeral Home in Conway, Ark. on Saturday, May 4th, 2013 at 3 p.m. with interment to follow at the Mayflower Cemetery.
