Candace (Connie) W. Fowler, passed away on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 after a brief illness. She died peacefully surrounded by her family. Connie was born on October 18, 1922 in Des Moines, Iowa to Jay Wise and Barbara Broad. She graduated from West High School in Minneapolis, Minn. and nursing school at the University of Minnesota. She began her nursing career as a pediatric nurse and later worked as an orthopedic and ambulatory care nurse at UAMS. She retired from her nursing career in 1991. Connie was preceded in death by her first husband, Dr. Theodore C. Panos and her sister Josephine Strong (Ed Strong). She is survived by her husband Dr. Charles W. Fowler, her brother Jay Wise (Lindy) of Fort Pierce, Florida, her children Angie (Denver, Colo.) and Stan Panos (Maitland, Fla.) and her grandchildren Jeffrey and Daniel Moran and Theodore and Clifford Panos. Connie was active in her retirement and loved gardening, walking, bird watching, playing bridge, visiting her family and volunteering with the Audubon Society, Master Gardeners, and Presbyterian Church and Life Quest. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 14, 2013, in Second Presbyterian Church, 600 Pleasant Valley Dr, with a visitation from 5:30-7 p.m. on Monday, May 13, 2013, at Ruebel Funeral Home. We invite you to dress brightly and join us to celebrate Connie's life. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Life Quest or the Audubon Society.
