Edna Sims Bunch, 84, of North Little Rock, went to be with the Lord surrounded by her family on Friday, May 10, 2013. She was born March 19, 1929 in Enders, Arkansas in Faulkner County. Her family worked as sharecroppers in Cotton Plant, Arkansas where they grew large crops of cotton. When her family moved to North Little Rock in the 1940's, she sold vegetables on a stand on Broadway. In 1948, Edna worked as an elevator operator in the Donaghey Building in Little Rock, where she met J.D. Bunch, an electrical contractor. They were married on July 3, 1949, and enjoyed 64 years of marriage. Through the years, she worked as a seamstress, as a cook for the North Little Rock school district, and as a receptionist and telephone operator. She loved to spend time with her family, especially her son and grandchildren. She also enjoyed sewing and making quilts with her sisters, cooking and reading. Mrs. Bunch was always active in her church, where she enjoyed fellowship with her Sunday School class and doing church activities. J.D. and Edna made a large vegetable garden every year at their farm house in Lonoke. They enjoyed raising and canning vegetables to share with family and friends. Edna is preceded in death by her husband, J.D. Bunch, parents, John and Ethel Sims, two sisters, Geneva Gotherman and Lois Miller, two brothers, J.D. Sims and Dois Sims. She is survived by her son, Ken Bunch (Linda Garner) of Lonoke; three grandchildren - Rachel Bunch Davis (Chris) and Michael Bunch, both of Little Rock, and Garner Trimble of Lonoke; her brother, Roy (Jeanette) Sims of North Little Rock; great-granddaughter, Emily Bunch of Little Rock and a host of nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend special thanks to her niece, Vicky Sims Moyer for caring for her at home in the last months of her life, and the staff at Briarwood Nursing & Rehabilitation for providing exceptional care during her last days. Memorials can be made to the Arkansas Baptist Children's Home. Visitation will be held at Roller-Owens Funeral Home in North Little Rock on Saturday, May 11 at 9 a.m. with funeral services to follow at 10 a.m. Internment will follow at Edgewood Memorial Park.
