Patricia Ann Newcomb Larsen left this earth and entered heaven at 8:08 a.m. on May 13, 2013. Patricia "Pat" is survived by her husband of 61 years, W.D. "Dub" Larsen, three sons, Rodney, Bryan of Benton, and Brent of Cabot, and their respective spouses Patty, Laura, and Danise. Pat had six grandchildren, Ryan and his wife Robin, Jarrod, Lance, Leslie, Erin, and Eric. Pat's four great-grandchildren, Laci Lea and Luke Larsen and Mallory and Kaity Shackelford. Pat Larsen was born to Pat and Inez Newcomb on August 16, 1933 and was the oldest of six children with sisters, Theda White and Brenda Johnson, and brothers, Don, Gary and David Newcomb. They lived their childhood years in the Mountain View community of Saline County. Later, Pat and Inez opened Pat's Cafe on Hwy. 67 in Benton where they all worked to make the business a success. Patricia was married on August 26, 1951 to W.D. "Dub" Larsen, After a stint in the Air Force, the couple moved back to their home town of Benton. Pat began her school teaching career while in Virginia, and then, taught school in the Benton Public School District until retiring in 1995. The last twenty-five years of her career, Pat taught ninth grade Science and was the sponsor for Student Council and the award winning Cheerleading and Drill Team from 1974 through 1995. In addition, Pat was active in statewide teacher organizations. After retirement, Pat enjoyed playing bridge and bowling as often as possible. However, her really true joy was being "Maw Maw"! Every Sunday evening her family would gather at her house for the best "southern-country cooking" with her most delicious dish determined by whose birthday they were celebrating at the time--it was all good! In addition, Pat never missed a baseball, football, softball game or any school event in which her children and/or grandchildren were involved. She was truly the "The Best Maw Maw"!!! The family will have Visitation at Ashby Funeral Home in Benton from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 14, 2013. The Funeral Service will be at the First Baptist Church in Benton, Arkansas at 2 p.m. on Wednesday May 15, 2013. On-line guest book at www.ashbyfuneralhome.com.
