Elbert G. Parrish

Elbert G. Parrish, age 85, of Crossett, Ark. passed away on Thursday, May 16, 2013 at his home. He was born in Newport, Ark, on June 13, 1927 to his parents, Jake and Muriel Beatrice Parrish. Mr. Parrish was an Army veteran having served in WW II and the Korean Conflict. He was a professionally registered electrical engineer and retired from Georgia Pacific after 40-plus years of service and was a member of the Crossett Public Library Board. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother, Jake Parrish Jr. Survivors include his wife, Mary Wortham Parrish of Crossett; one son, James G. Parrish of Palatka, Fla.; two daughters, Patricia Barnett (Keith) of Hamburg, Ark. and Betty Black (Michael) of Fountain Hill, Ark., six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, May 19, 2013 at the Presbyterian Church of Crossett with Rev. Bonnie Wilkins officiating. Interment will follow at Crossroads Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Crossett, Ark. (www.jonesservice.com). Visitation will be from 2 to 3 p.m., Sunday, May 19, 2013 at the Presbyterian Church of Crossett before the service.
