HERMAN CLINTON "CLINT" BOSHEARS JR., 79, peacefully left this life late Friday evening, May 24, 2013, surrounded by family and friends. He was born on June 9, 1933, and grew up in the Heights area of Little Rock where his family operated several businesses on Kavanaugh Boulevard, including Boshears Cleaners, a Heights landmark. Prior to attending the University of Arkansas, Clint served in the U.S. Marine Corps where his service included being ordered along with other marines to observe atomic bomb tests at close range. In the first half of his almost 80 years on earth, he became a prospector, inventor and entrepreneur, race horse owner, and he developed a love for selling businesses and developing real estate projects, which blossomed into the career he held for the rest of his life. His professional accomplishments include the development of the Hickory Creek neighborhood, where many of Little Rock's finest homes are located. Nearly 40 years ago, Clint became a friend of Bill W.'s, and because of this lifelong friendship he reached out, touched, and in many cases, helped save the lives of countless other people through the sharing of his own experience, strength and hope. He was also an author, publishing the novel, As we Trudge, which recounts the story of a priest on a spiritual journey to find serenity. In 1990, Clint completed a 32-month course from The Loyola Institute for the Ministry, a division of Loyola University in New Orleans, that allowed him to become a lay minister in the Kingdom Ministry of the Catholic Diocese of Little Rock. As a Kingdom minister, Clint actively worked with people outside the Catholic Church, including alcoholics and other troubled individuals. Clint was predeceased by his father, Herman Boshears, and his mother, Rosalyn Boshears, as well as his younger brother, Barry Boshears (Jenny Storthz). He is survived by his wife of 52 years and best friend, Cynthia; his son, Bowden (Beth); his daughter Shannon; his brother, Gaylon Boshears (Carolyn); his granddaughter, Jessica Boshears, all of Little Rock; and many other extended family members and friends. In Clint's last days and weeks, the love he so freely shared in life was returned to him by his caregivers, for which his family is deeply grateful. A memorial service will be held at Griffin-Leggett Healey and Roth at 5800 West 12 Street at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 1. The service will be followed by a gathering at the Wolf Street Foundation and Center at 1015 S. Louisiana Street in Little Rock. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wolfe Street Foundation at www.wolfestreet.org.
