Ruby Hazel Spears Broadhurst age 92 of Jonesboro, Ark., formerly of North Little Rock, Ark. left this earth to be with her Lord and Savior Monday, November 18, 2013 in Jonesboro. Born to Hugh Tolden and Armittie Spears, Ruby was born in Mira Louisiana but lived most of her life in Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her husband J C Broadhurst. One of 13 children, she was preceded in death by five brothers, one sister and her daughter-in-law. She is survived by her beloved children, Joe Broadhurst of Humble Texas and Linda Wofford (Lloyd) of Jonesboro; her grandchildren, Cameron Wofford, Melissa Broadhurst, Stacy Taylor, Scott Richards, and Trey (Dana) Wofford. Great grandchildren include Hannah Neyens, Hunter, Bailey, Cole, Lane Taylor and Braxston Wofford. Ruby is survived by three sisters, Lora Lee Hickerson of Texarkana, Ark., Louise Patterson of Shafter, Calif., and Faye Williamson of Ft. Wayne, Ind and three brothers, Frank Spears (Judy), Glendon Spears (Glenda Sue), and Kenneth Spears (Melinda) of Texarkana, Ark. and many nieces and nephews. Ruby was a member of First Methodist Church of Jonesboro, Ark. and a member of Baring Cross Baptist Church in North Little Rock for over 55 years. She taught the 5-year old children's class at church for twenty years, sang in the choir for many years, was active in missions and played in the Ukulele band. She was a member of the Homemakers Club in North Little Rock, was secretary at Park Hill Elementary School, and began her work career as a telegraph operator with Missouri Pacific Railroad where she met her husband, JC. Many wonderful things could be said of Ruby, but the single important things are that she loved her Lord with all her heart, she loved and cared for her family, she loved her friends, and she prayed for them daily. Visitation will be Thursday from 9-10:15 a.m. at First United Methodist Church Chapel with service starting at 10:15 a.m. The family will receive friends from 1:30-3 p.m. at Griffin Leggett/Rest Hills Funeral Home, 7724 Landers Rd., North Little Rock, Arkansas 72117. Pallbearers include: Cameron Wofford, Lloyd Wofford, Gabe Tatum, Donnie Hauge, Derek Meins, and Eddie Ishmael. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Bernards Foundation, 400 East Street, Jonesboro, Ark. 72401 designated for The Villa Memory Care Center (under construction in Jonesboro) or Crossnet Prison Ministry, P.O.
