LAVERNE PRINCE, 87, longtime resident of Jacksonville, Ark., received her reward of eternal rest on Friday, Nov. 22, 2013. Born in Cairo, Ill. to Irwin and Evangeline Grable, LaVerne graduated from Trumann, Ark. High School in June 1944. She married the love of her life, Pershing John Prince on June 4, 1948. This union lasted 50 years. LaVerne enjoyed traveling alongside her husband while he served in the military. She is best remembered for her great love of music and dance. After her husband's death, she continued her travels with her dearest friend, Sue Simmons, of Jacksonville, Ark. LaVerne worked retail at the Air Force Exchange for 48 years. In 2009, LaVerne relocated to College Station, Texas to be closer to her sister and care-giver, Carolyn Palasota. While in College Station, LaVerne made many friends from her Sunday school class and church. LaVerne is preceded in death by her parents and husband P.J. Prince; her brother, Harold Lee Grable; sisters, Ina Mae Forrester, Lounette McMullen, and Imogene Adams. She is survived by her sister, Carolyn F. Palasota; several cousins; nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 25, 2013 at Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2013 at Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Brazos Valley Hospice or Parkway Baptist Church in College Station, Texas.
