Mrs. Helen W. Abbott

Mrs. Helen W. Abbott, age 96, passed away on September 28, 2013. She was born in Spring City, Tenn. in 1917 to the family of James Hampton Harrison and Jo Ann Fisher Harrison, but had resided in Little Rock, Ark. for a number of years. Helen was preceded in death by her first husband, Donald E. Wilson and her second husband, Dr. William Abbott. She is survived by two loving sisters, Hazel L. Hurst (Delray Beach, Fla.) and Opal V. Henley (Athens, Tenn.). Six brothers and sisters have preceded her in death. She will always be remembered as a wonderful devoted aunt by a number of nieces and nephews. Also two very special and loved individuals in her life are Mary Ann Davidson (Kent) of Salida, CO and Jane Bolding (Gary) of DeLand, Fla., daughters of Dr. William Abbott. Ashley and Michael Bolding have fondly addressed her as "grandma" and consider her in that manner. Helen enjoyed golf and was an excellent player and belonged to several clubs in Little Rock. She was an accomplished bridge player, and attained life master status. She greatly enjoyed being a member of the Duplicate Bridge Club of Little Rock and for many years cherished friendships with various players. Helen was a very family oriented person and delighted in reunions and visiting relatives throughout the year. She attended every family reunion with one exception over the past 50 years. She was an attendee of the Westover Hills Presbyterian Church and was active in their in depth Bible studies. For the past several years Helen had resided at Andover Place and made many friends there. She expressed her appreciation often for the dedicated care and attention given her. She will be greatly missed by all friends and family. A private service will be conducted at the burial site in Forest Hills Memorial Park by Ruebel Funeral Home and a memorial service is to be conducted at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at Andover Place immediately following as she requested. Honorary pallbearers are: Dr. Kent Davidson, Mr. Gary Bolding, Mr. Jimmy Harrison, Dr. James Higgs, Dr. Bob Higgs, Dr. Tom Higgs, Mr. Danny George, Mr. Gary Hurst, Mr. Steve Henley, Mr. David Henley, and Mr. Andy Moore.
