Barbara Jean Waychoff

Barbara Jean Waychoff, age 86, of Little Rock, passed away Saturday, March 29, 2014 at Arkansas Hospice Ottenheimer Inpatient Center in Little Rock. Born in Boone, Iowa on October 23, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Clarence Scott Diehl and Lovera Christine Rosene Diehl. Barbara married Dean Thomas Waychoff on September 19, 1948 at the First Presbyterian Church in Boone, Iowa. He preceded her in death on July 10, 2008. A 1945 graduate from Boone High School, she continued her education, receiving her Registered Nursing Degree from Iowa Methodist School of Nursing in Des Moines, Iowa in 1948. She worked as a registered nurse in various hospitals and home health in place where her husband, Dean, was a Presbyterian minister. She retired from active nursing in 1989 due to health reasons. Barbara was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Heber Springs, Arkansas, and an affiliate member of Trinity Presbyterian Church of Little Rock, Arkansas. She was a member of PEO Sisterhood and awarded a 50-Year Member award May 3, 2002. She is survived by four children: The Rev. Mary Ellen Waychoff of New Cambria, Missouri; Susanne Kay Wegner, R.N., and husband Harold of Kingston, Oklahoma; Deborah Jean Ross, R.N., and husband John of Conway, Arkansas; and Timothy Clell Waychoff and wife Amy of Benton, Arkansas; six grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and two brothers, David Scott Diehl of Dallas, Texas and Donald Lee Diehl and his wife Shirley of Coralville, Iowa. She is also survived by many relatives and many friends. A memorial service will be held, Wednesday, April 2 at 2 p.m. at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Little Rock with the Rev. Mary Ellen Waychoff and Rev. Jeff Price officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Cleburne County Aging Program, Waychoff Senior Citizens Center, 320 Trailwood Dr., Heber Springs, Ark. 72543.
