Edith B Kinney

of North Little Rock, AR, 1918 - 2014

Edith B. Kinney, 95, of North Little Rock passed away April 19, 2014. For the first 94 years of her life she lived within eight miles of the Arkansas State Capitol building before moving to be near family in Texas in 2012.
She is survived by her son Dick C. Kinney and his wife Kay of Bedford, Texas, and granddaughters, Kim Kinney of O'Fallon, Mo., and Emily Kinney of Grapevine, Texas. She is preceded in death in 2003 by her husband of 62 years, Frank H. Kinney and her parents, Irene Burley Evans and Ross Burley.
She was a 1936 graduate of Little Rock Central High School, and after graduation, she served on the campaign staff to reelect Senator Hattie Carroway of Arkansas, the first female elected to the United States Senate. In the early 1940s, she worked for the Arkansas Democrat where she met her husband, Frank Kinney. She also worked for the Arkansas State Health Department and retired from the State of Arkansas Employment Security Division.
A viewing will be held at the Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Funeral Home located at 7724 Landers Rd., NLR
From 5 p.m,. till 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 23. Graveside Services and internment will be held at Roselawn Cemetery at 11 a.m. on Thursday the 24th, and be conducted by long-time family friend Rev. Larry Williams, United Methodist Church (ret).
