Vera Barker

Vera Montine Rash Barker, 89, of Pleasant Plains passed away Monday, August 11, 2014 in Batesville. She was born April 20, 1925 in Bald Knob to Luther and Manola Rash. Vera taught school in Wilburn and Osceola. She was an avid gardener, providing floral arrangements for her church, Cedar Grove United Methodist Church in Floral. Survivors include her husband of 65 years, John H. Barker of Pleasant Plains; three daughters, Karen Barker of Pleasant Plains, Sara Goff (Sam) of Memphis, Tenn., Joan Schuman (Tom) of Rolla, Mo. and one sister, Donna Smith (Calvin) of Hope, and three grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Sandra Jane Barker; two sisters, Neva Overstreet Johnston and Glenda Rudder; three brothers, Louis Rash, Hudson Rash and Alvis Rash. Graveside services will be 11 a.m., Friday, August 15, 2014 in the Cedar Grove Cemetery at Floral. Arrangements by Willis Funeral Service of Batesville.
