Richard Glenn "Rick" Miller, 48, of Searcy, Arkansas, passed from this life on December 2, 2014, at UAMS Hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas. Rick was born on August 23, 1966, in Searcy, the third child of Dr. and Mrs. Robert Miller. He attended Searcy Public Schools and graduated from Searcy High School in 1984 and from Arkansas Tech University in 1989 where he was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. He then attended and later graduated from the University of Arkansas Law School. He remained an enthusiastic Razorback fan the rest of his life. Rick spent several years as a public defender in Washington County and later in Benton County. He also had a private law practice in Searcy for several years. In later years he was employed as a land man with Continental Land Company, working in the natural gas industry. Rick was a loyal friend to many, with a quick wit, a generous spirit and kind heart. He was raised to treat all people equally and he lived his life that way. He went out of his way to lend a helping hand when he thought it was needed without any thought of recognition or reciprocation. He tried to look for the best in people, even when it was not easy to do. He is survived by his mother, Marge Miller, and siblings Ken Miller (Beth) of St. Louis, Missouri, Patty Allison (John) of San Angelo, Texas, and Missy Wolfe (Kevin) of Montgomery, Alabama. Also surviving are nine nieces and nephews who all declare Uncle Rick was the best uncle in the world. He is also survived by many wonderful friends, including his best friend of more than 40 years, Chip Pagan. Rick was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Searcy. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held there on Saturday, December 6 at 2 p.m. Arrangements made by Powell Funeral Home. www.powellfuneralhome.net.
