Katherine Ellen Page, age 66, of Searcy, passed away Thursday, Dec. 18, 2014 in Little Rock. She was born April 13, 1948 to Jennings Roden Mahan and Versa Marie Scritchfield Mahan. She worked as an elementary school teacher for 32 years at Southside School in Damascus, Quitman Public Schools and Searcy middle School. She was also an active member of the Church of Christ. She is survived by two sons, Trey Page of West Hollywood, Calif., Rigel Page of Searcy; two grandchildren, Lane and Hayden Page of Searcy; and two brothers, David Mahan of Rabbit Ridge, and Dennie Mahan of Damascus. She is preceded in death by her parents, Jennings "Slater" and Versa Mahan. She was a Mom, Grandmother, Daughter, Sister, favorite Aunt and passionate educator, who touched and changed the lives of countless individuals. She had warmth and kindness, and gave family, friends and students a refuge of comfort in her home. She gave us a sense of confidence and belonging when we all needed it most and defended our youthful mistakes. In-turn she taught us, encouraged us and rewarded us. She entertained and laughed with us. Unselfish with her time and full of charm and grace. She was adventurous in her youth. Creative, thoughtful, and generous with age. On Sunday mornings she could sing from the hymnal without looking at the words, from the heart, by heart. She gave unexpected gifts and hugs with a kiss. And when she said, "I Love You", she called you by name. The Good Lord blessed us with her for what never seems like long enough. She will be forever loved until we all meet again. A memorial service will be held Monday, Dec. 22, 2014 at Powell Funeral Home Chapel at 12 p.m. with a time for visitation beginning at 11 a.m. Arrangements by Powell Funeral Home of Searcy. www.powellfuneralhome.net.
