James Robert Bona Sr., 71, of Little Rock, departed this life on Saturday, December 27, 2014. James was born in Little Rock, Arkansas on December 30, 1942 to the late Robert J. Bona and Eleanor Jones Bona. James was a graduate of Central High School and attended LRU for Pre-Pharmacy and graduated from UAMS Pharmacy School. He was the owner of Fricks & Marshall Road Pharmacy and served as a consulting pharmacist for a nursing home. After selling his pharmacy, James worked for the Arkansas State Health Department Pharmacy Services as an investigator. He then retired in January of 2006. James loved spending time with his family and friends. He especially enjoyed spending time at "Bona's Bungalow" at Lake Ouachita. He loved driving and working on his 1947 Jeep, truck and Kubota tractor. He was a practical joker, specifically hiding shoes around the house. He attended Joplin United Methodist Church. He is survived by his loving and faithful wife of 50 years, Pat Bona; one son, Jim Bona, Jr. of Little Rock, Arkansas; two grandchildren, Madison Bona and Jay Bona, III of Little Rock; in-laws, Jimmy and Tram Taylor, Bryce and Debby Caudle, and Kay Mays; and a host of nieces and nephews. Special thanks to Debby Caudle, Kay Mays, Parkway Village Staff, Arkansas Hospice, and Visiting Angels. Funeral service will be 12:30 p.m., Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home Chapel, 13801 Chenal Parkway, Little Rock, Arkansas 72211, (501) 224-8300, officiated by Reverend David Steele from Joplin United Methodist Church. Burial to follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at the Funeral Home.
