Carroll Wilson "Buz" Stegall Jr., age 92, of Little Rock, Arkansas, passed away Tuesday, February 4, 2014 in Dallas, Texas. He was born October 30, 1921 in Little Rock, Arkansas to the late Carroll Wilson and Molly Daniels Stegall Sr. Buz graduated from Little Rock High School in 1940. He then attended Little Rock Junior College. On December 27, 1941 he entered the US Air Force where he served his country during WW II as a corporal in the 379th Bombardment Group until July of 1945. He continued his service in Casablanca until October 1945. On July 5, 1950, Buz married Esther Elizabeth "Betty" Cook in Little Rock. From 1946 until 1988, he owned and operated Hillcrest Gift and Variety In Little Rock. He was awarded the "Golden Trolley" award for decades of service to the Hillcrest neighborhood. Buz and Betty were longtime members of Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church. Buz was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Betty Stegall; grandson, Charles David Williamson; two sisters, Margaret S. Whitehead and Alice S. Halter. Buz is survived by his son and daughter in law, Bob and Janet Ryan Stegall of Dallas Texas; daughter and son in law, Barbara and Jack Nowlin of Little Rock, Arkansas; granddaughter, Ann and husband Joe David of Denver, Colorado; great grandchildren, Jack and Caroline David, both of Denver, Colorado. The family expresses their appreciation to the staff at Caruth Haven and to the staff of VNA Private Care and VNA Hospice Care. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, February 6, 2014 at Sparkman Hillcrest Funeral Chapel in Dallas. The interment will be 2 p.m. Friday, February 7, 2014 at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Alexander, Arkansas with Rev. Lynn W. Lindsey officiating and military honors.
