C.O. Tittle, age 93, departed his earthly life on Saturday, February 8, 2014. He and his wife of 72 years, Beatrice Harvill Tittle, were fortunate to live in their own home together until his death. In addition to his wife, Mr. Tittle is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and James Barrett, his grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Jason and Amber Barrett and three wonderful grandchildren, Kathryn (Katy) Barrett, Adley Barham and Adison Barham all of Maumelle and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Tittle was born in 1920 in Saline County. He was the first son of the late Omar and Ethel Ewell Tittle and was the last living member of his immediate family. He was predeceased by his brother, Duffie Tittle; his five sisters, Dorothy Turbyfill, Lois Bunt, Ruby McClamrock, Melba Burton and Daphne Driggers. Mr. Tittle served in the Army during World War II and returned to Benton, Arkansas to work at Reynolds Metal Company for 32 years as a supervisor in production. He retired in 1982 when he accepted the job as full-time grandfather, father and husband. Once his grandson was born, he became Pop to everyone in the family and enjoyed traveling with Bea and his family or friends, tending and harvesting his vegetable garden, watching basketball and reading. He was a life-long Baptist and was an active member of Maumelle First Baptist Church until his health prevented attending, but remained interested and always looked forward to visits from church members. Mr. Tittle will be remembered as a generous and kind man with a big heart and a genuine love of God and family. A service to honor his life will be at Dial and Dudley Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at 2 p.m. with visitation at 1:30 p.m. followed by a private family burial at Pinecrest Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in his memory to the Kitchen Fund at Maumelle First Baptist Church or St. Jude Children's Hospital, to honor his lifelong love of children. His family wishes to thank all of Mr. Tittle's caregivers in the last few years and especially Susan Davis-Stuckey, who lived with her great uncle and aunt during the last month which allowed him to remain at home.
