Opal Irene (Vinson) Wilson, age 92, a resident of Morrilton, passed away peacefully Thursday morning, Feb. 13, 2014 with children and grandchildren by her side. Woodrow Wilson, her husband of 68 years, preceded her in death five years ago. Opal lived most of her life in Northeast Arkansas; born in Lunsford on May 10, 1921 to Macy and William Vinson. Opal is survived by her sons, Joseph Wilson of Morrilton, Jim and LaVanna Wilson of Portageville, Mo. and Larry and Jewel Wilson of Jonesboro; two daughters, Donna and Tony Woodard of Plumerville, Donice and Glenn Berkemeyer, also of Plumerille. Opal is also survived by one sister, Billie Sexton of Newport. Opal was called "Nanny" and loved by 11 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by two daughters, LaVa Wilson and Phyllis Wilson Ross, and grandson, Nathan Wilson. She dedicated her life to serving the Lord; daily living the life of a fine Christian woman. She loved going to church and reading her bible. Opal loved gardening flowers and vegetables; was an amazing cook, loved to sew, crochet and quilt. Visitation services will be 1-2 p.m. Tuesday at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home Chapel, 1900 West Washington Avenue in Jonesboro. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. with Wynndel King officiating. Burial will follow at Nettleton Cemetery.
