Jane Cooper Tolbert passed away January 11, 2014. The daughter of Helen and Earl Cooper, Jane grew up in Little Rock and graduated from Little Rock High School in 1943. She moved to Memphis and was secretary to the head of Methodist Hospital where she met Louis E. Tolbert, Jr. After he graduated from medical school, they lived in Mississippi, Georgia and Louisiana before returning to Little Rock where she helped him establish his practice in internal medicine. They were married for 47 years before his death in 1997. She is survived by two sisters, Christine Spindel of Memphis and Dr. Ruth Cooper of Little Rock; three brothers, Adren Cooper of Annandale Va., Warren (Sue) Cooper of Memphis, and Howard (Pat) Cooper of Indianapolis Ind.; six nieces, Laura (Michael) Peterson of Conway, Carol (Tom Bassett) Spindel of Urbana Ill., Karen (Jim) Saxton of Coquille Ore., Ann (Dan) Cummins of Jamaica, Vt., Amy (Donal) McLysaght of West Lake OH, Emily (Scott) Unger of Indianapolis; four nephews, Bill (Terri)and Ken (Daphne) Ruck of Little Rock, Andy (Halah) Cooper of Annandale, Va., and Alan Spindel of Nashville, Tenn.; 15 great-nieces and nephews, and a great-great-niece and nephew. Funeral service will be Wednesday, January 15, at 11 a.m. at Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Park. Online guestbook: www.griffinleggetthealeyroth.com.
