Jewell Naomi Woodard passed into glory on January 22 after 92 years of a more than full life on this earth. She was born on January 1, 1922, in Conway, Arkansas, to Cecil Clyde Turner and Maudie Viola Sellers Turner. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earnest Stanley "Mutt" Woodard and her son, Bobby Raye Woodard. She touched many lives in her incredible journey. She was the mother to 10 children: Patricia Remke (Dick), Stanley Woodard (Susan), Bobby Woodard, Martha Carey Marilyn Childs, Preston Woodard, Sandra White (Ricky), Phyllis Chancellor (James), Ricky Woodard (Paula), and Kim Moore (Neal). She was affectionately known as "Mema "or "Honey" to 27 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren. She did so many things in her life, many unique and memorable. If raising ten children wasn't enough, Jewell always stayed busy and worked all of her life. She was a seamstress and a dorm mother at UCA, She was a master quilter and crocheted hats for infants at Arkansas Children's Hospital's "Knitting for Noggins" program. She was an excellent cook. Many times, her home would have 50 to 60 people gathered for Thanksgiving, Christmas or family celebrations. She was active in her church and was a founding member of Round Mountain Community Church. In recent years she was an active member of First United Methodist Church in Conway. Jewell was a charter resident of College Square Retirement Community, where she served as an ambassador for 13 years. She hosted a family reunion every other year at Shepherd of the Ozarks, fondly referred to by the family as "Big Creek". It was typical to have over eighty people in attendance for the three-day weekend. Jewell's love and generosity had an indelible impact on her family, her friends, and those knew her in the community. She was a great lady, had a great life, and was a true "Jewell". A memorial service will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, January 25, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church, Conway with Dr. Michael Roberts officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Arkansas Children's Hospital or the Round Mountain Community Church. For online guestbook, www.rollerfuneralhomes.com.
