Fae Fisher Barham

Fae Fisher Barham, 90, of Cabot died Saturday, July 12, 2014. She was born at her parent's home near the west Texas town of Ballinger. She celebrated her 90th birthday on October 1, 2013. From a depression-era upbringing on a wind-whipped cotton farm, Fae grew up tough, independent and resilient. With her widowed mother, Willie Waller Fisher, she traveled to Cabot as a teenager with sisters, (Edna Mae Wise, Willie Gertrude (Gertie) Burks, Hazel Fisher and Lois Hardy) and a brother, James Fisher. Over the course of her life, Fae became a beautician, salesperson, wife, mom, artist, seamstress, extraordinary cook and grower of all things green. Those talents transferred to two daughters, Jo (David) Langston and Toni (Rusty) Wilkerson and two beautiful granddaughters, Ashley and Morgan Wilkerson. She enjoyed hobbies such as ceramics and baking, as well as travel, with trips involving everything from short "hops" from home to as far away as Hawaii and the east coast. She always held dear the fierce independent nature of a true Texan. She was preceded in death by her uncle, John Fisher, her mother and father as well as her two older sisters and only brother. She lost her husband, Paul Marshall "Dude" Barham in 1996 after 50 years of marriage. The family would like to thank the entire team at the Des Arc Nursing and Rehab Center for their thoughtful and loving support and care of our mom and our family during this difficult time. Our mother could not have been in better hands and her immediate family tearfully and gratefully thanks you all.
