Lee (Cordell-"Hawk") Hawkins, age 54, of Little Rock died, June 6th, 2014 at Little Rock Veterans Hospital after a long battled illness. He was born in Monroe, Louisiana on January 30, 1960 to Betty Gilmore Massey. He was raised in El Dorado where he graduated from El Dorado High School in 1978 were he excelled as a superstar multi-facet athlete. Mr. Hawkins was a veteran of the United States Navy. After leaving the Navy he became an Entrepreneur, where he owned his own Barber Shop in Los Angeles, California; he became a Barber Instructor at New Tyler Barber College in the North Little Rock until he succumb to his illness and death. He is survived by his mother Betty Gilmore Massey of El Dorado, one daughter LaTorrie Mechelle Turner, of Texas, and one son, Lee Cordell Hawkins, Jr. of California two grandchildren, Jaiden Dinyelle Turner, and Jibreel Billie Turner Jr, six siblings Debora Kay (Gerry) Smedley, and Ricky (Jeanette) Hawkins of California, Vanessa (Errol) Tate and Theressa (Manuel) Soares of Ohio, Rev. Anthony Gilmore and Gwendolyn (Massey) Price of Little Rock, Arkansas, two uncles and one aunt, Ben Grimes, Charles Grimes, and Darlene (Grimes) Graham, as well as a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation: Friday, June 13, 2014 from 7:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. at the funeral home. His life will be celebrated on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at 1 p.m. at Holy Temple Cathedral Church of God in Christ at 1322 South Pulaski Street, Little Rock, Ark. 72202.
