Eunice Thomasson Owen, 90, of Pine Bluff, died Saturday. She was born Sept. 5, 1923 in Herbine to the late Edgar and Myrtle Workman Thomasson. She was a graduate of Woodlawn High School where she was salutatorian. She was a charter member and Past Matron of Star Chapter 608 Order of the Eastern Star. She was a member of New Home Missionary Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years, was past president of the ladies auxiliary, and had many leadership roles. She was also a member of the Star City Garden Club, and worked at the polls as a judge/clerk for all elections. Also preceding her in death was her husband of 43 years, Virgil Lewis Owen; four brothers, Guy Thomasson, James L. "Bud" Thomasson, Jewel Lee "Pete" Thomasson, Charles Thomasson; and one sister, Lois Taylor. Survivors include a son, Roger (Angel) Owen of Star City; daughter, Marilyn Owen (Johnny) Hooks of Little Rock; one brother, Ed Thomasson of Pine Bluff; three sisters, Mamie Crane of Little Rock, Opal Green of Jonesboro, Betty James of Randall; five grandchildren, Kelli Montgomery, Kevin Owen, Tara Spegar, Brittany Knowles, Kyle Owen; and five great-grandchildren, Peyton, Dylan, Savannah, Carter and Graham. Funeral Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at New Home Missionary Baptist Church, 14060 Hwy. 54 South, Pine Bluff, Ark. 71603. Bro. Johnnie Brewster and Bro. Joseph Pemberton will officiate. Burial will be in New Owen Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Monday at Griffin Funeral Service, 811 North Lincoln Ave. Star City, Ark. 71667. Pallbearers will be Marshall Owen, Darryl Owen, Mack Owen, Toby Simmons, Randy Blasengame, Don Montgomery and W.A. Owen. Memorials may be made to the New Home Missionary Baptist Church.
