RUBY LEE NEIGHBORS MECCA, of North Little Rock, left this life Saturday, March 1, 2014 at the age of 100 years. She was born in Riceville, Tenn. on April 14, 1913. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Julia Neighbors; husbands, Vernon West, Arlis Williams, Robert Elder, and Andrew Mecca; and a granddaughter, Stacy Vance Brown. She was also preceded in death by four brothers; two sisters; and two stepdaughters. She is survived by three daughters, Edna Kerwick (Richard) of The Villages, Fla., Anita Rutt (Robert) of Little Rock, Ark., and Joyce Vance (John) of North Little Rock, Ark. She is also survived by two stepsons; four stepdaughters; and two sisters. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Melissa Weigel of Williamsburg, Va., Elisabeth Velte of Conway, Ark., and Richard Kerwick of Key West, Fla.; six great-grandchildren, Matthew and Justin Velte of Conway, Ark., Edward Weigel of Chicago, Ill., Bethany Johnson (Brad) of Gastonia, N.C., Shelby and Tristan Brown of Austin, Ark., and one great-great-grandson, Blake Johnson of Gastonia, N.C. She is also survived by numerous step-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. She is retired from the Baptist Hospital with over 30 years service as a nurse. When she was able she loved fishing and gardening. The family would like to express our very special thank you to the staff of Elmcroft Assisted Living in Sherwood, Ark. and Home Hospice for the loving care they provided. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at Roller-Owens Funeral Home Chapel, 5509 John F. Kennedy Blvd., North Little Rock, Ark. (501-791-7400). The family will receive friends from 9-10 a.m., one hour prior to service. Interment will be at 2 p.m. at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Alexander, Ark.
