Annice Marie Eldridge White

ANNICE MARIE ELDRIDGE WHITE, age 77 of Sherwood, Ark., died Friday, May 2, 2014 at her home after a brief illness. She was born in Malvern on Oct. 25, 1936 to the late Alva Basil Eldridge and Georgia Oglesby Hampton. Reared and receiving her early education in Malvern, she later attended Ouachita Baptist University and Henderson State University, ultimately earning her master of science in education degree. Ann was a school teacher for a total of 36 years. Working for the Department of Defense, she taught in Labrador, Turkey, Germany, and Japan. Ann also taught in Little Rock for 26 years. She was a member of the AEA, the NEA, the Little Rock Classroom Teachers Association, and Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority. She was a protestant. Ann loved music, was an avid reader, and enjoyed traveling. She was the widow of the late Randy White, to whom she was married on July 3, 1974. He preceded her in death on Jan. 4, 1996. She is survived by two nieces, LouAnn Goleman of Oklahoma, and Judy Eldridge Durner of California; two nephews, John Eldridge Jr. of California, and Danny Eldridge of Oklahoma; by seven great-nephews; and three great-nieces. Ann was also preceded in death by her brothers, John Eldridge and Virgil Eldridge; her sister, Alma Eldridge Bailey; and a niece, Linda Eldridge. A service at the graveside in Fairplay Cemetery will take place on Monday afternoon, May 7, 2014 at two o'clock, under the direction of J. A. Funk Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service, beginning at one o'clock, followed by a cortege to the cemetery at 1:45.
