Thomas "Tom" Jefferson Knight

Thomas "Tom" Jefferson Knight, of Dumas passed away at his home on November 13, 2014. He was born October 11, 1931 to J.O. and Crystal Knight. His parents, son, John Owen Knight and three brothers Carl Knight, Maurice Knight and Delmon Knight all preceded him in death. Tom was a member of Smyrna Baptist Church, served in the United State Army from December 15, 1953 to September 15, 1955. He was a 32nd degree Mason and member of Omega Lodge #547 in Dumas. He was employed for 39 years in Vocational Technical and Adult Education. He retired as Director of Riverside Vocational School on May 29, 2003. Survivors are his wife, Joyce Riley Knight, four daughters, Leslie Dutton of Palmyra, Lisa Hollowell (Doug) of Pine Bluff, Laura McKenney (Bill) of Star City and Stacy Lenderman (Calvin) of Dumas, two sons, Neal Wood of Dumas and Barry Wood (Kim) of White Hall, ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren, one brother, Sherlon Knight (Carolyn) of Gould, four sisters, Freda Bethea of Heber Springs, Lyndell Bradley (Joe) of Grady, Nedra Castleberry (Woodie) and Melba Bradley (Roger) both of Gould. Visitation held from 1-2 p.m., Sunday, November 16, 2014, Landmark Missionary Baptist Church. With Funeral services following at 2 p.m. with Rev. Steve Hoskins, Rev. Dubs Byers and Rev. Jim Smith officiating with burial in Dark Corner Cemetery. Memorials may be made in memory of Tom to Arkansas Children's Hospital, #1 Children's Way, Little Rock, Arkansas 72202.
