Alberta W. Mazique, a God-Fearing, Christian Woman, who had been the last surviving member of Martin Jerry Jr. and Queen Victoria Dickerson Washington's family of 16 children, passed in her home on Saturday, Oct. 4, 2014 while surrounded by loving family members. A life long resident of Jefferson County, Alberta was born Feb. 8, 1911 in Ellison, but spent the majority of her 103 years in the Pastoria community, before moving to Pine Bluff several years ago. S he was a 78 year member of Sherrill's Historic Antioch Baptist Church. She is survived by daughter, Alberteen Mazique of Pine Bluff; son, Dwight "Blond" Mazique (Ora) of Matteson, Ill.; six grandchildren, Angela Mazique of Bellwood., Ill., Anita Mazique of Alsip, Ill., James Mazique (Barbara) of Pine Bluff, Shirley Taylor (Steven) of New Rochelle, N.Y, Anthony Turner (Dawn) of Joilet, Ill., and Dylan Embry of Chicago, Ill.; 11 great-grandchildren; many relatives and numerous friends. Family members wish to express gratitude for all of the prayers and support they have received and for the superb professional care "Bertha" was given. Family hour will be held Friday from 6 to 7 p.m. at the mortuary. Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, 2014 at Antioch Baptist Church with interment in the church's cemetery. Arrangements are by Henson-Holcomb Mortuary, 3804 West 14th Avenue, Pine Bluff.
