Shirley Anne Dunaway

Born in New Orleans on December 11, 1933, Shirley Anne (McGalin) Dunaway, affectionately known as "Mickey," faced the final curtain on October 14 at the age of 80. She was a drama teacher at Little Rock Central High during the 1957 crisis and was happy to educate anybody who walked into her classroom. One of the Little Rock 9 once called her classroom a "Safe Haven." She was the first sponsor of Central's High Steppers. She was an aspiring actress before moving to St. Louis to become a full-time mom and part time Realtor. Louis and Mickey returned to Conway in 1987. Lives still affected by her legacy are sister, Judith (George) Carabine of Tampa and their children Hal and Dinah, husband Louis, her only son, Sharpe, daughter-in-law, Angela and grandchildren Quint, Grace and London, all of Conway. She was preceded in death by her parents Howard and Elsie McGalin of Sun City Center, Florida. Interment at Oak Grove Cemetery in Conway October 21 at 10 a.m.
