Johnny Moory Jr., age 85, of Jacksonville went to be with his Lord on Sunday, October 26, 2014. He was born August 28, 1929 in DeWitt, Arkansas to the late Johnny and Muriel Moory. He was a graduate of DeWitt High School where he played football for the DeWitt Dragons, he later went on to graduate from Arkansas Teachers College and the University of Arkansas. Mr. Moory served as a paratrooper in the United States Army during the Korean War. He made his career in education and was a teacher at DeWitt Eastside Elementary, he served as principal at Warren Dupree Elementary, Homer Adkins Elementary, and he was the elementary director for Pulaski County Special School District. Mr. Moory was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church in Jacksonville where he formerly served as chairman of the board. His hobbies included camping, fishing, and watching the Arkansas Razorbacks. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Ida Lou Moory, he is also survived by his children; John Paul Moory of New York City, New York, Susan Holliday of Newport, Arkansas, Steven Todd Moory and his wife Julie of Sherwood, Arkansas, Sara Elizabeth Cobb and her husband Jamie of Cabot, Arkansas, grandchildren; Courtney Cobb, Camille Holliday, Chase Cobb and his wife Mariah, Steven Moory, great-grandchildren, Corbin Cobb, and Arabella Cobb and one sister Helen Spurgeon. Visitation will be on Thursday, October 30, 2014 from 1:30 p.m. until 3 p.m. with a funeral service to follow at 3 p.m. at Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home with Reverend Wendell Dorman officiating.
