Earl Clark Cloyd, 95, of Little Rock affectionately know as "Pop" passed on to his heavenly home on Monday, October 27, 2014 in Hot Springs, Ark. surrounded by his family. Born in Driftwood/Cherokee, Oklahoma on October 6, 1919 to Ora W. and Fleta Ferguson Cloyd. Earl was raised in the Oklahoma panhandle with five brothers and one sister. He was a proud American, a U.S. Army Veteran (Sgt.) of WWII, serving in many areas of Europe. He flew his American Flag proudly and demanded that it be treated and handled properly and with respect. Earl was also proud to be a Mason of 65 years. Upon his return from overseas he was stationed in Rowher, Ark. where he met his future wife, Louise Downen of Back Gate, Ark. They fell in love, married and remained in the Back Gate/Dumas, Ark. area where they farmed for several years prior to moving to Little Rock. From that point, Earl attended Barber College and devoted 60 years of his life to the trade before retiring. Earl is preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, one sister and his lovely wife of 56 years, Louise. He is survived by his son, Mike Cloyd (Patti) of Benton; grandsons, Shane Cloyd of Mabelvale, Blake Cloyd (Caelan) of Springdale; great-grandsons, Austin Cloyd of Little Rock, Greyson Cloyd of Springdale; great-granddaughter, Avery Cloyd of Springdale; and many nieces and nephews. Earl thoroughly enjoyed attending many sporting events of his family and was a huge fan and supporter. He will be missed by all. A special thanks to Dr. Scott Anderson and staff, Dr. Ray Parker and staff, Dr. Christopher John and staff (including a special thanks to Rhonda, his birthday buddy). Also very special thanks to his niece, Betty Mabry for her faithful daily phone calls to her uncle to cheer him up. A graveside service will be held at Riverwood Memorial Gardens, Maumelle, Ark. on Thursday, October 30, 2014 at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Unity Missionary Baptist Church, 1223 S.
