Sidney Glen Painter, 80, died peacefully at home in Maumelle, Arkansas, September 6, 2014. Born June 30, 1934, in Little Rock to the late Glen and Alice Painter. Sid was preceded in death by his sister, Dorris Reynolds, and his brother, Tommy Painter. Loved ones he leaves behind are his wife and best friend of 57 years, Susie Weidemeyer Painter. His sister, Pat Henry (Mike); sisters-in-law, Clairetta Cogdell, Bess Tower (John); nephew, Keith Sanford; nieces, Nita Spahr (Steve), Ashley Formento (Dan), Kecia Lemons; their families and a host of friends. Sid had a great life. A 1952 Little Rock High School graduate; he served in the Navy; and graduated from UofA Fayetteville in 1958. His knowledge and expertise with computers led to a career with IBM as a Senior Systems Engineer. Following retirement in 1986, he taught at UCA and UALR. When Sid and Susie were not busy traveling all 50 states and several countries, Sid enjoyed being around family and friends and making people laugh. All who were fortunate enough to have met him will remember him for his collection and delivery of the world's corniest jokes! A service in celebration of Sid's life, will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church on Mississippi and Evergreen in Little Rock on Friday, September 12, at 1 p.m. Memorials if any should be made to the church.
