Robert Bobby Henard

Surrounded by his loving family, Robert L. "Bobby" Henard, age 84, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at the Springhill Baptist Medical Center in North Little Rock. Born in Zent, Arkansas on August 13, 1930 he was one of seven children born to James Jordan and Eunice Henard. At the age of 15 he met the love his life, Joyce Ann Hunt and on May 2, 1953 at the age of 22 they were married at the Hunter Methodist Church. This marriage which spanned 61 years was blessed with three children, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Bobby's first jobs would start with working on his brother, Jim's farm and later at the age of 19 becoming a teller at Rice Growers Bank. He would then begin his successful career of 49+ years owning and operating Bobby Henard Tire Service. He was a former member of the Wheatley United Methodist Church where he served as Administrative Council Chairman, and Sunday School Teacher. He later moved to Brinkley and became a member of the First United Methodist Church and served on the Finance Committee and the Pastorial Parrish Board. Bobby was also a member of the Arkansas Tire Dealers Association. On November 20, 1992 he received his daughters kidney, which he has lived with for the past 22 years. Doctors had only given him 10 years with this kidney but due to what he attributed to "Good Living, No Smoking or Drinking" he would receive another 12 years. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Joyce Hunt Henard of Brinkley, two sons, Alan Henard and wife Laurie of Wheatley, Gary Henard and wife Mary Ellen of Brinkley, daughter, Jacquelyn Geisler and husband Dennie of Brinkley, one sister, Helen Parker of ElMonte, Calif., eight grandchildren, Amber Geisler McCreary, Blake Geisler, Kenna Henard Womack, Morgan Henard, Kacy Henard Higgins, Kori Henard Jordan Geisler and Karagan Henard, two great-grandchildren, Eli Womack and Mary Harper Higgins. Visitation with family and friends will be 4 p.m. until 8 p.m., Friday at Bob Neal & Sons Funeral Home in Brinkley. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Saturday at the First United Methodist Church in Brinkley. Interment will be in Johnson Cemetery in Wheatley. Guestbook www.bobnealandsons.com.
