Oris B. "Pete" Lollar

Oris B. "Pete" Lollar, 87, of Conway died Saturday, Sept. 20, 2014 at Conway Regional Medical Center. A fiercely self-reliant spirit whose mind never failed him, Pete lived independently unto the final week of his life. He was born May 23, 1927 in Wayne, Okla. to Omer DeWitt Lollar and Eula Elizabeth Lollar. Pete served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. Following military service, he attended the University of Oklahoma, Norman and the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville. Pete was a retired architectural draftsman, a profession that he loved. Pete is survived by his children, Michael Morgan McCombs and wife Martha of Houston, Texas; Melissa Lollar Jones and husband Rock of Delaware, Ohio; Mark DeWitt Lollar and wife Lisa of Conway, Ark.; grandchildren, Matthew and Kelly McCombs, Kenneth McCombs, Kevin McCombs, Alissan Jones, Christopher Jones, Anna Jones, David Lollar, Phillip Lollar and great-granddaughter Arden Anne McCombs. Other survivors include sisters Charlotte Lollar Graham, Carolyn Lollar Neal, Phillis Lollar Waugh, brother Larry Lollar and a host of extended family and friends. Pete was preceded in death by his parents; the mother of his children, Ella Mae "Lani" Lollar; son, Peter Jackson Lollar; sister, Linda Lollar Sparlin and brother, Owen Dale Lollar. A celebration of life service will be held in Conway following the Dec. 4 return of a granddaughter who is presently on a semester abroad experience in India.
