Ira Thaddeus Scoggins, age 79, of Little Rock, Arkansas, died Saturday, December 12, 2015, after a prolonged illness. He was a graduate of Jones High School, AM&N College in Pine Bluff; a United States Air Force Veteran; the music director of Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church of North Little Rock for over 50 years; and an educator in the Little Rock and North Little Rock Public School Districts for over 30 years. Ira was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters: Irene Scoggins of North Little Rock, and two unnamed who died at birth; and one brother: John Wesley Scoggins. He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Gloria Scoggins; his son, Neal (Erin) Scoggins, of Maumelle; his special little girl, Armani; one brother, Syrvevtus Napolean Scoggins, Jr.; two sisters, Mrs. Francica Woods of Virginia, and Mrs. Larue Young of North Little Rock; four grandchildren and an endless number of step-children, step-grandchildren, nieces, great-nieces, nephews and great-nephews, students and colleagues. Family Hour will be Friday, December 18, 2015 at 6 p.m. at Premier Funeral Home of Little Rock, Arkansas. The body will be available for viewing on Saturday, December 19, 2015 from 11 a.m. until noon at Bethel AME Church, 600 North Cedar Street, North Little Rock, Arkansas. The closed casket services will follow. Interment will be at Rest in Peace Cemetery, Hensley, Arkansas. Services are by Premier Funeral Home, 1518 South Battery Street, Little Rock, Arkansas 72202.
