James Russell Penny Jr.

James Russell Penny Jr., 78, formerly of Little Rock, died on Dec. 28, 2014 in DeRidder, La. He was born on Dec. 14, 1936, in Brooklyn, N.Y. to the late James Russell Penny Sr. and Maria Saladino Penny. A Navy veteran who, early in his career, was employed by NASA contractors where he helped design missile guidance components. His career as an electronic engineer and computer expert allowed him to live in and to travel to numerous places in the U.S as well as overseas. An entrepreneur designing and manufacturing cell tower components, he held several patents for electronic and cellular communications devices. He was a Mason who enjoyed being a shriner when he lived in Florida. He is survived by four children, Jamie, David, Dixie and Radwa; seven grandchildren and five siblings, Gordon Penny (Nancy), Anthony Penny, Joyce Penny Miller, Roy Penny and Nevada Penny Copeland (Ron). No memorial service is planned. Donations may be made in his name to the Pulaski County Humane Society.
