William Owen Elmore, 84, of Little Rock, passed away February 5, 2015. "Daddy Bill" was welcomed into heaven by former loved ones and our Lord whom he glorified his entire life through his voice. Born in Owensboro, Kentucky to Stanley and Mary Lyons Elmore, his passion for singing began at Grenada High School, participating in their glee club and being their Drum Major. After graduating in 1949, he dedicated his life to serving his country for three years during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged. Bill attended Ole Miss, where he met Lew, sang in the university chorus, and received a degree in business. He spent the next thirty years in automotive sales, traveling, receiving awards and never meeting a stranger. He was a loyal employee of Sears, Addressagraph-Multigraph, Maremont Corporation, Parts Warehouse, Inc. and Alliance Parts Warehouse. More than his love for working was his love for his family. He actively participated in the lives of his wife, daughter and two grandchildren. There wasn't anything he loved more than boating on Lake Ouachita with his family. For over 25 years, Bill continued to captivate hearts through his singing in the Trinity United Methodist Church choir. His tenor voice will forever be remembered, especially in his version of "The Lord's Prayer." A lifelong friend to many, he will be loved, missed and remembered. Preceded in death by his parents and sister, Martha Chapman, he is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lew McCrary Elmore; daughter, Luanne Lewis and husband, Steve of Little Rock; grandchildren, Drew Payne and Lindsay Bjornson (Tyler); niece, Emily Samuels (Gary); nephew, Mac Lowry (Beverly); sisters, Betty Norwood (Orman) and Marjorie Wilbourn (Adron), both of Tennessee; and a host of other relatives and friends. Special thanks from the family to the nurses at 5A at Baptist Health for their loving care, to the staff at Good Shepherd Nursing and Rehab, and to special friend, Paul Adkinson and family. Visitation will be this evening, Wednesday, February 11 from 6-8 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church. Services will be Thursday, February 12 at 11:30 a.m. at the church, officiated by Rev. Betsy Singleton-Snyder. Memorials may be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church Music Ministry, 1101 N. Mississippi, Little Rock, Ark. 72207. Arrangements by Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct., (501) 224-2200. Mr. Elmore's online guestbook may be signed at www.littlerockfuneralhome.com.
