Joan May

Val Joan May (Mom), 81, went Home to be with the Lord, Monday, February 16, 2015. Born to the late James A. and Nora Edith Duff of Conway, she loved her family and friends more than anything in the world. No matter how sick or the situation, it was always about someone else that needed help or care. Mom lived a wonderful life and gave up many things to make sure her family or others had what was needed, without hesitation or complaint. She is survived by her husband of over 59 years, Scotty May; one daughter, Susan (May) Morrison and son-in-law, Ken, of Lakeland, Tenn.; one son, Scott May and daughter-in-law, Connie, of Conway; one extra-special grandson, Ben May, and his wife, Taylor, of Conway; and one brother that she loved more than anything, James (Jim) Duff and his wife, Barbara, of Tucson, Ariz. She retired from the Arkansas Insurance Department after 23 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Vi Jean Culpepper and her step-father, Everett Blessing. She knew when John Burleson, Pastor and friend, came into her life, all would be good. Mom was a devoted Christian and knew that Monday was the greatest day ever. Mom loved to read, learn, and travel. Her thoughts and prayers were always with children and she had a special connection to the kids at St. Jude Children's Hospital in Memphis. Visitation will be held Thursday, February 19, 2015 Griffin Leggett Conway Funeral Home from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. Graveside services will be held Friday, February 20, 2015 at Pinecrest Memorial Park at 1:30 p.m. Please leave the family your condolences at Joan's online guestbook at www.griffinleggettconway.com.
