On February 13, 2015 Lola Rivera Keckler was welcomed into the arms of her savior. A woman of powerful faith and eternal optimism, she was a light on a hill to all who knew and loved her. The world is diminished by her passing but immeasurably enriched by her life. She was born in May 15, 1940 in Windom, Minnesota to Mr. and Mrs. Abe Balzar. Lola attended college in Newton, Kansas and worked as a Registered Nurse and Registered Nurse Practitioner for 45 years. She loved Arkansas and lived there for 31 years where she was a sports fanatic and one of the most devoted Razorback fans to ever call the hogs. After retiring, she moved to Alamosa, Colorado to be close to her son, where she met her husband-to-be and they were married on September 24, 2011. Lola was a member of the Living Water Bible Fellowship Church of Alamosa and key member in the women's ministry She was an animal lover and loved her animals dearly. She is survived by her husband Thomas L. Keckler of Alamosa, son Mario Rivera of Alamosa, sister Jean and her husband Mel Dirks, nephews Steve and Randy Dirks, and step-children whom she loved as her own: Randy Rivera, Miguel Rivera, Dennis Keckler, Tom Keckler and Kim Pommier; as well as numerous other step-grandchildren, David Lyman of Boston, Massachusetts whom she loved as a son, and a host of extended family and friends. She will be deeply missed by her family and countless friends. Lola was preceded in death by her parents. Cremation was chosen and a Celebration of Life will be held 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at the Living Water Bible Fellowship in Alamosa. Inurnment of ashes will take place in the Alamosa Cemetery. Contributions are suggested to the Benevolence Fund at the Living Water Bible Fellowship, in her memory.
