Nelda Deen Taylor Womack, age 89, passed away Saturday, January 3, 2015 in Little Rock, Arkansas. She was born December 28, 1925 to Henry and Bessie Deen Taylor in Paris, Arkansas. She graduated from Fort Smith High School in 1943 and earned a Bachelors Degree in Home Economics from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville in 1947, where she was president of Delta Gamma Sorority. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Fort Smith. She was a homemaker, an avid reader and bridge player, loved to cook and enjoyed baking chocolate pies for her boys. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 58 years Cecil Turner Womack Jr., an infant son Joseph Reed Womack, eldest son, Cecil Turner "Mike" Womack III and sister, Mattalee Taylor Fawcett. She is survived by her son, John Taylor Womack (Becky) of Little Rock, granddaughters, Jamie Womack Gilpin (Eric) of Chicago, Katie Womack Baumeister (Alex) of Fort Smith, Callie Womack Dolloff (Joel) of Wichita, Kansas, Alyson Womack and Lindsey Womack, of Chicago. She is also survived by five great-grandchildren, a niece, Janith Fawcett Branson (Cleve) of Anthem, Arizona and nephew, Chuck Fawcett (Shannon) of Fort Smith. Visitation will be Saturday, January 10, 2015, from 1:30 p.m. – 3 p.m. at Edwards Funeral Home, Fort Smith. A private family burial at The Fort Smith National Cemetery will follow at a later date under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
