Betty Jean Seamans

Betty Jean Seamans, 92, of Bella Vista, Ark., formerly of McGehee, Ark. passed away Friday, October 30, 2015. Betty was born in McGehee, Arkansas on January 24, 1923 to the late Dennis Malley and Mary Griffing Bass. She owned and operated Seamans Grocery for many years. Betty was a former secretary for C.S. Griffing Insurance Company and also did income taxes for people. She was a former member of First Baptist Church of McGehee, Ark., where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday school, and she learned sign language to assist the deaf in worship services and church. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Jack B. Seamans; son, Dennis P. Seamans, and brother, Donald D. Bass. Survivors include her daughter, Betty Shirakbari and her husband, Nasser of Bella Vista, Ark.; grandchildren, Rob Shirakbari, Alicia Leslie, Andie Martar, Melanie Brown, Matthew Seamans, and Charlie Seamans; great-grandchildren, Jack Martar, Sydney and Graham Leslie, Corrine and Braiden Ellis, Shiloh and Emily Seamans. Visitation will be held 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at Griffin-Culpepper Funeral Service in McGehee, Ark. Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at First Baptist Church in McGehee, Ark. with Dr. Ed Balducci and Bishop Sam Seamans officiating. Burial will be at McGehee Cemetery in McGehee, Ark.
