Price Lafayette McCrary Jr.

Price Lafayette McCrary Jr., 90, of Hixson, passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Veterans Day 2015. Price served as an Army Air Corp officer in World War II as a pilot and flight instructor. He was awarded the American Campaign Medal as well as the World War II Victory Medal for his service. After the service, Price attended University of Tennessee at Knoxville where his dorm room was located in famous Neyland Stadium. From then he worked in fossil fuel and became a nuclear engineer for TVA at Brown's Ferry. Upon retirement he and his wife Carolyn followed their dream to travel and shared many memorable trips together. He loved his family as well as his little dogs up until the end and was an advocate of no kill shelters and rescues. He was preceded in death by his parents, Price Sr. and Molly Briggs McCrary; sister, Flora McCrary; and daughter, Alicia McCrary. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Carolyn Riggin McCrary; daughter, Nancy McCrary, Hixson; son, James (Becky) McCrary, Birmingham; sister, Esther Wold, San Anselmo, Calif.; grandchildren, Guy (Carrie) Sparks, Seattle; Bob Sparks and Jeff Jones, Hixson; Charlotte McCrary, Birmingham. A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, 2015 at Hamilton Funeral Home Chapel, 4506 Hixson Pike Hixson, Tenn. 37343 with Reverend Christy Bonner officiating. Attendees are welcome to share memories of Price if they wish.
