Micheal Boyd Jones

Micheal Boyd Jones, 65, of McGehee, Arkansas passed away Wednesday, September 2, 2015 in Little Rock, Ark. He was born in Warren, Ark. on May 23, 1950 to Boyd Leslie and Hattie Lou Johnson Jones. Mike played football, basketball and ran track at McGehee High School and graduated in 1968. He attended Southern State College at Magnolia and University of Arkansas at Monticello. Mike owned and operated the Otasco Store in McGehee, Ark. until 2000. He co-owned and operated Selman Plant Nursery in Eudora, Ark. from 2000 to present. Mike worked for the Boll Weevil Eratication Program. He was very active in youth baseball in McGehee and served as president of the McGehee Summer Baseball Program. Mike was a Boy Scout Leader for many years. He loved to hunt and served as the secretary of J.U. Fehr Hunting Club until his death. Mike was a member of First United Methodist Church in McGehee. Other than his father, he is preceded in death by his brother, Stephen Lee Jones. Survivors include his mother, Hattie Johnson Jones of Dermott, Ark.; wife, Elizabeth "Priss" Jones in McGehee, Ark.; son, Stephen Lee Jones of McGehee, Ark. and numerous nephews and one niece. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Friday, September 4, 2015 at Griffin-Culpepper Funeral Service in McGehee, Ark. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, September 5, 2015 at First United Methodist Church in McGehee, Ark. with Rev. Joe Head officiating. Burial will be held at McGehee Cemetery in McGehee, Ark. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Paws and Claws Humane Society of McGehee, P.O.
