Torger Lloyd Jostad, (Lloyd) passed away peacefully on Aug. 31, 2015. Lloyd was born in Superior, Wis. to Norwegian immigrants on Oct. 31, 1926. Within days after his graduation from high school, Lloyd enlisted in the US Navy, and served on a minesweeper in the Pacific theater in WWII. After his honorable discharge, he went to college on the GI Bill, taught history for over 15 years, and was the high school principal in Brillion, Wis. and Bemidji, Minn. He then pursued a career as a motel business owner and manager in Arkansas, in partnership with his wife of 65 years, Marlyss Jostad, who has predeceased him. Upon retirement, they moved to Fort Collins. He taught his sons the value of an education, the importance of a hard day's work, and that every person was your equal. Lloyd is survived by his three sons, Douglas, John, and Mark, eight grandchildren, Christopher, James, Virginia (deceased), Eason, Drew, Brooke, Zachary, and Logan, and three great-grandchildren, Hayden Darby, Kayla Darby, and Tristan Anders Jostad. Donations may be made to Pathways Hospice, (//pathways-care.org), who greatly assisted him and his family in his final days. All are invited to a memorial service at the First United Methodist Church on Thursday, Sept. 10, 2015, at 2 p.m. A guest book is available on the Vessey Funeral Home website.
